Say Goodbye to Braces
Misaligned teeth can be a worrisome issue for people of all ages. If the prospect of wearing braces seems daunting, then Invisalign could be your solution to straighter teeth. Upper Gage Dental Centre is proud to carry Invisalign clear aligners, and we are fully trained to help you along your journey to straighter teeth.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment is a process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that can gradually straighten your teeth. Invisalign doesn’t use brackets or wires like braces do—instead, it is made of a flexible plastic made from a thermoplastic material called SmartTrack.
If you decide to use Invisalign, your dentist will create a digital treatment plan that will map out the exact movements of your teeth. After this map has been created, your Invisalign clear aligners will be designed to apply a certain amount of force to the right place at the right time.
One of the major benefits of Invisalign clear aligners is that they are virtually invisible. They are also easy to remove when you want to drink, eat, brush, and floss.
What is the Invisalign Treatment Process?
The first step in your Invisalign treatment will be to have a consultation with your dentist at our office. During this consultation, your digital treatment plan will be created.
Once you have finished your consultation, your set of Invisalign clear aligners will be made. When they are ready to be picked up, Upper Gage Dental Centre will contact you.
You will need to wear each set of aligners for 20–22 hours a day, and change to the next set of aligners every 1–2 weeks, or as directed by your dentist. Every different aligner will have a purpose in your treatment plan and must be used in order to properly shift your teeth into the right place.
The length of Invisalign treatments will vary depending on the patient, so you and your dentist will need to decide what schedule works best for your specific circumstances. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 12 to 18 months, but you can usually start to see results in a matter of weeks once you start wearing your aligners.
Regular checkups with your dentist every 4–6 weeks will be required to see how the treatment process is working and if any changes need to be made.
